THE HARD COUNT
Mature YA Contemporary Romance-Stand Alone
Release Date: July 15, 2016
Nico Medina’s world is
eleven miles away from mine. During the day, it’s a place where doors are
open—where homes are lived in, and neighbors love. But when the sun sets, it
becomes a place where young boys are afraid, where eyes watch from idling cars
that hide in the shadows and wicked smoke flows from pipes.
West End is the kind of
place that people survive. It buries them—one at a time, one way or another.
And when Nico was a little boy, his mom always told him to run.
I’m Reagan
Prescott—coach’s daughter, sister to the prodigal son, daughter in the perfect
family.
Life on top.
Lies.
My world is the ugly one.
Private school politics and one of the best high school football programs in
the country can break even the toughest souls. Our darkness plays out in
whispers and rumors, and money and status trump all. I would know—I’ve watched
it kill my family slowly, strangling us for years.
In our twisted world, a
boy from West End is the only shining light.
Quarterback.
Hero.
Heart.
Good.
I hated him before I
needed him.
I fell for him fast.
I loved him when it was
almost too late.
When two ugly worlds
collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West
End.

 ~MY REVIEW~

5 stars!

This book.

This amazingly wonderful yet unfortunately real book…

I HAVE NO WORDS.

I’ve been a huge Ginger Scott fan for awhile now, but I have to say that this book IS her BEST work to date. The Hard Count is more than just a sports romance. It’s an emotional, deeply inspiring, unforgettable story of family, hope, acceptance, and love. The entire story was captivating and written beautifully.

This book took me back to some of my greatest times in high school. Football. I was a manager on the sidelines, and though it wasn’t at a private school, I still remember the drama surrounding the head coach. I couldn’t imagine how it would be at a private school. Scott captures the game of football perfectly; her writing will make you feel like you’re in the stands cheering alongside the fans.

Ahh, first love… This is one of my favorite things about Young Adult Novels. I love, love, LOVE high school romance stories and everything they entail. I love the anticipation, the first kiss, the innocence and sweet, swornworthy moments of young love. Watching Nico and Reagan grow closer and fall in love was so adorable. Their romance was so pure, real and BEAUTIFUL. They’re first kiss… SWOON—it gave me butterflies.

The struggles that Nico faced are struggles that kids face today in schools—the hate, racism, bullying. Despite his many hardship, Nico was an AMAZING guy with so much heart! I fell so hard for him.

This unforgettable book has gone down as one of my favorite YA novels ever. I can’t recommend it enough! If you’re looking for a well-written romance with so much heart, then READ THIS BOOK. If you love a romance about high school, football, and young love, then this book is a MUST READ.

When she’s not writing,
the odds are high that she’s somewhere near a baseball diamond, either watching
